Why i think basketball is a good sport
“Basketball is a way of life. Basketball is a relationship between you and the ball and your teammates. If you love the sport no one can take that away from you”. This quote from Michael Jordan, one of the world's best basketball players highlights some of the amazing things about basketball.
Today I'm going to talk to you about why I think basketball is a good sport. There are three main reasons why which I will discuss. These are: The global nature of the sport, the health benefits and the socialness of the sport.
So to start us off today I will be talking about the global nature of the sport. Basketball is played in 213 countries of the world at many levels both competitive and social. Basketball can be played by men and women and by people with varying heights and skill levels. For example if I am small and fast and can dribble I can play point guard and if I am tall and strong I can play centre/power forward.
Secondly, Basketball has many health benefits. Playing basketball helps to improve coordination, flexibility, and endurance. It also encourages speed, agility, and strength. A good thing about basketball is that players have to run up and down the court regardless of position, like sports like netball that have you in one area of the court.
Ok now let's go to our final reason why - it's very social.Playing in a basketball team helps kids develop their communication and social skills. They learn how to talk to others, make new friends and it gives them an understanding of the different abilities of other people. Most importantly through playing basketball kids learn that being active is fun.
In conclusion there are many great things about basketball. The key points I have talked about today are the global nature and the health benefits and the socialness of the sport. I recommend you have a go! You will love it!
